Comments on Piece
Allegretto. This delightful dance piece features grace notes and slurs in its characteristic folk melody. The melody appears in the left hand, calling for independence of hands. It is also good for developing a light touch.
Teaching Tips
Teaching Tips Keyed to the Video Clips:

RH Melody with Acciaccatura (1) – playing RH melody with Acciaccatura

Leave out the Acciaccatura and just playing the melody, accent on the first note of the second beat of the measure not on the Acciaccatura

Up (stacc.) up (stacc.) down up (slur) motion. You may practice playing this Acciaccatura on every note using 3212 and 4323 fingerings.

LH Broken chords (2)

Group each set of two eighth notes in the LH from bars 1-8 and practice them as chords. If it is reachable, get fingerings according to chord positions.

A slight sideway wrist movement may be used if the chord is not playable in one hand position.

LH Preparing jumps (3)

There are few jumps besides the chord patterns on the LH in the beginning of the piece (e.g between F,B and G). Practice preparing the G as quickly as possible several times before you actually play.

Jumps on sequences (4)

This can be a little hard because the last note of each sequence uses the same finger on the first note of the next sequence going up and this can easily be missed. As soon as the staccato is released the second finger should be on the next note. Practice preparing before play each one. On RH fingers 321 is used, so make sure you tuck the thumb under the third finger to play this.

RH Swivel motion (5)

This RH passage with broken chords requires flexible wrists. Keep your third finger on the middle note and just move your wrist sideways to place the outer part notes Make sure your wrist is kept flexible. As soon as the staccato is released prepare for the next chord.
