- Black key hand and arm clusters in the right hand are interspersed with an active single line melody over ostinati-like figures. (Maurice Hinson)
NOTE: Left hand disjunct octaves are utilized in the central episode of this work.
- Teaching Tips
- The KEY SIGNATURE indicates that the right hand utilizes all sharps (black key pentatonic) while the left hand plays as written.
OCTAVE CLUSTERS are to be performed using the palm of the hand, paying special attention to bring out the outer two tones.
The little finger of the fist ought to bring out the melody in the HALF-ARM or FOREARM clusters. One must pay special attention that all the tones sound and that the outer notes of the two-octave range are highlighted. NOTE: If the arm is too long, it should be tilted so as not to sound any additional pitches.
