Comments on Piece
This piece emphasizes repeating patterns in staccato. Broken chords reign throughout, as the hands go up and down by steps to different chords. The rhythmic pattern remains the same.
Teaching Tips
Try teaching this using a reduction of the music based on the broken chord. Each measure begins a new broken chord, so use the first beat of each measure as landmark notes in both hands. The thumbs will always be landing on consecutive notes. The sooner a student can get his or her eyes off the music, the easier this piece will be.
